Concept to Company Competition

Grow Utah Ventures and Zions Bank along with a variety of other corporate sponsors are currently accepting submissions for their Concept to Company competitions.  I have included a few highlights about the competitions below.  For more information, feel free to visit the Concept to Company website at http://www.concepttocompany.org/.  February 17 is the first submission deadline, so get cracking!Utah Competition

OVERVIEW OF THE COMPETITIONS

The Concept to Company competitions are ongoing innovation contests held across the state of Utah.  The main objectives of the contests are to encourage and support Utah’s entrepreneurial innovators with the intent of helping them turn their concepts into a company.  The competitions that are currently running are focused are Digital Media (submission deadline – Feb 17) and General Technology(submission deadline – Mar 14).  To date, the Concept to Company contests have distributed more than $190,000 in prize money/services and helped nearly 20 innovators/companies bring their business idea to fruition.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The competition is open to all legal residents of Utah 18 years of age and over who are located in the State at the time of entry.  This includes any existing small business with a primary business location in Utah having annual revenues of less than $5 million (for a product not yet taken to market).  Entries must be for a legitimate invention or business that may be lawfully operated in the United States.

WHAT DO THE WINNERS RECEIVE?

The winning entry will receive an award up to $35,000 comprised of cash and professional services to help bring the idea to fruition.  Additionally, two runners-up will receive awards up to $17,000 each comprised of cash and services.  In addition, all finalists will enjoy a rare opportunity to present their ideas to industry leaders and form possible strategic relationships that would otherwise not happen.

HOW DO I ENTER?

Submitting your invention and innovation is simple. The application is a web-based form found under the “Entry Form & Rules” section of the competition site. You simply need to go to that section of the website and complete the form. The fields with asterisks are required.
